It all STAX Up

Finally some “analog” work to show

A quick post here to announce a new "Paintings" galleries section has been recently added here on the site to show some of the first fruits from working in a new studio space my wife and I have been renting the past few months. Works on paper from the STAX series will also be on display at the space tomorrow (April 6) as part of a local arts festival going on across the area.

Painting and drawing are my roots in art, and the visual aesthetic of my more recent digital mashup work has a lot in common with my earlier "analog" work. In essence, it's reducing the realistic subject matter found in the mashups to more elemental forms, but the strong interests in pure colors, lines, shapes and textures as expressive elements remains consistent. It's all about developing a sense of creative self-awareness, as the Agnes Martin quote that introduces the STAX gallery intimates. Look for additional work there, plus related journal posts and possibly other painting and drawing explorations in the weeks ahead as studio work continues.
